As the founder of Good Vibes, I get to watch front and center as company culture is created and it always makes for a good story.

Back in the summer of 2020, when Good Vibes started growing a large following and generating a significant buzz, the business had gotten to the point where I could no longer do it all by myself.  It took me almost a month to fill hundreds of orders and I was tired and worn out! That's when I realized, that businesses were never meant to be run by one person, not if you plan to grow. I needed help, so I surrendered.

The first person I hired was my son, Wale (Wah-Lay), who was 16 years old at the time.  Since he is the inspiration behind the whole Good Vibes Story, I thought, why not make him a part of it's evolution.  Plus, I wanted him to know what it meant to earn his own money (I was low key sick of giving him an allowance for simply being a crumb snatcher).

Next, I hired a couple of his friends from the neighborhood, Aris and Matt. They were good kids and it felt really good to keep those boys busy during quarantine. I felt like Good Vibes was helping me make a difference in my community.

Finally, I hired my young adult nephew, Kareem, as the team lead. He was young enough to relate to the teens but old enough to redirect them when they acted like clowns.  And with three teenage boys working together everyday, there was plenty of clowning going on, let me tell you, 😅.

So, one day, I was instructing the young men on how to label and fill bottles of Good Vibes.  I filled a bottle and demonstrated how to properly use the pump on one of the 50 gallon drums we make the product in. Then I watched each of them as they tried it themselves.

After Aris filled one of the bottles, I warned him to quickly catch the solution dripping from the pump by yelling out, without really thinking, "don't spill the drip!"

From that moment forward, Good Vibe All Purpose Cleaner was referred to as The Drip behind the scenes.  It's a double entendre as the word drip is also used for anything and everything fly in hip-hop.

So, that's my behind the scenes company culture post. I look forward to sharing more shenanigan's. But, in the meantime,

Be careful not to spill The Drip out there folks.
